Let us together celebrate our day this year with the hope to see a brighter future and to see the light at the end of the tunnel on the employment, issues and challenges ahead of us. Though the issue of ESOS was settled amicably, other issues in hand are yet to be settled. The outsourcing plan was put to hold for the time being but we never know it may be activated anytime. As far as outsourcing is concerned, we see that it is a global trend but we are not sure whether it is applicable in our nation. The main consequence of outsourcing is the existing staff will be out of work/job and hence will be made redundant and leading to retrenchment. On the other hand the government is talking about tenaga insan & modal insan. But the workers down there is flooded with worries on whether they can secure employment until retirement. The deployment of secondees is still pending and we look forward to see the issue settled before the year end.

Government Linked Companies - GLCs like Telekom Malaysia have worked to serve
higher-ranking managers and executive officers only. Private sector employees are left
in the lurch over rising prices. Employers, led by MEF and STA are turning a blind eye.

I'm beyond words when I read thru this column but only to picture what our future could be or would be....and it horrids me. We need to do something about this...the GOVERNMENT is responsible. I agree with UTES President...and I hope our Government will take this employment & union's plight seriously.WE DON'T NEED OUTSOURCING, WE, THE LOCALS ARE CAPABLE TO BE HIGH FLYERS ACHIEVERS...which we have proven all this years with MALAYSIA BOLEH and also TM BOLEH spirit.
1 mei 2008, adalah satu permulaan baru bagi kita di TM. Permulaan baru ini adalah sama dengan bila kita mula diSYaRIKATkan pada 1987. Kita hanya ada fixed line saja sekarang, tiada lagi mobikom, tmtouch, celcom yang kita selamatkan dari kepupusan. Semua titik peluh kita selama ini hanya mengalir terus ke longkang dan dari longkang tersebut dialirkan oleh orang-orang tertentu untuk kesenangan korni-korni mereka. Kita disogok dengan 2 atau 3.5 lot saham. Adakah ini setimpal, berbaloi? Kita dianggap seperti budak-budak, kalau menangis diberi gula-gula. Mulai dari hari ini kita akan disogok dengan kata-kata way forward, change dan bermacam-macam lagi. Kita sudah letih diolah begini tapi terpaksa kerana keluarga dan tanggungjawap sebagai ketua rumah. Inilah masa kita untuk bersatu. Sekiranya tidak kita akan terus dipermainkan oleh pihak pengurusan. Tiba masa kita harus berhati batu, bersemangat kental, jangan menyerah sebelum berjuang. Diharap anda semua SEDAR, SEDAR dan SEDAR dari mimpi-mimpi saudara-saudari.

Setuju dengan pendapat anda. Kita hanya diperkotak-katikkan selama ini oleh pihak pengurusan. Kenaikan harga barang2 keperluan terus membebankan rakyat amnya dan khasnya KITA SEBAGAI PEKERJA TM. Kenaikan gaji yang diterima tidaklah seberapa berbanding dengan harga barang yang terus melambung. Pihak pengurusan tidaklah terasa bebanan kehidupan yang melambung disebabkan gaji mereka begitu tinggi dan segala kemudahan diberikan oleh TM. Merekalah yg sepatutnya diberikan VSS kerana gaji seorang pengurus atau pen. pengurus cukup untuk membayar gaji 2 hingga 3 org pekerja bukan eksekutif. Itu baru level pengurus, belum lagi level2 yang lebih tinggi. Renungkanlah semua ini. Perjuangan kita belum selesai.
